The Holiday Inn Express Abingdon Hotel is located 1.5 miles from Historic downtown Abingdon which was founded in 1778, home of the world famous Barter Theatre with plays running year round. Also downtown is the beginning of the Virginia Creeper trail with miles of walking or biking trails running through the Beautiful Southwest Virginia area. Bristol Motor Speedway is only 25 miles south of the hotel. Downtown features a twenty block historic district that is on the National Register of Historic Places and is packed with great antique shops and a variety of specialty shops. Abingdon is a great getaway for weekday or weekend. The hotel features large, spacious rooms with great lighting and all the comforts of home.
